Treating an addiction to drugs or alcohol sometimes requires long term help; when this is the case, inpatient drug treatment is ideal. Drug treatment offers around the clock care for an individual looking to overcome his or her addiction to drugs or alcohol. He or she will begin their treatment at a drug treatment center by completely cutting off their access to any drugs or alcohol; this is done so that they will be able to go through the recovery process sooner, and not have to worry about drugs or alcohol constantly.
Once he or she is admitted into drug treatment
, they will then choose the extent of their stay and the programs that will be incorporated into their recovery program. He or she will have several drug treatment
options which include, but are not limited to:
- Choosing long-term (one month to one year) or short-term (one month or less) inpatient drug treatment.
- Choosing what programs they will want to incorporate into their inpatient drug treatment such as holistic, Christian, or traditional.
- Choosing whether or not they will want to use group or individual counseling, or both (works best if long-term inpatient drug treatment is chosen)
- Choosing if they are interested in an aftercare program such as extended counseling or even entering into a half-way home
